Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 To Include Champions League

Kon­ami has signed a deal with UEFA that allows the game cre­ator to use all the ele­ments and attrib­utes of the com­pe­ti­tion to cre­ate an exclu­sive UEFA Cham­pi­ons League mode within the Pro Evo­lu­tion Soc­cer game. They are the only game on the mar­ket to have an offi­cial deal to use the Cham­pi­ons League brand­ing within their game.

The game will have a patch released that will add newly licensed teams and cur­rent trans­fer data. Konami’s announce­ment sug­gests it applies to the XBOX 360, PS3 and PC ver­sions. The newly licensed clubs include Span­ish sides Ath­letico Madrid, Sevilla, Rac­ing San­tander and Val­ladolid as well as 12 more teams for the UEFA Cham­pi­ons League mode (includ­ing Mar­seille, Juven­tus, Zenit St Peters­burg and Basel). The update will also add proper Cham­pi­ons League kits and kit mark­ings for all the clubs to give gamers a fully authen­tic expe­ri­ence. The patch will also update the kits and squads for many teams in the game, such as putting Dim­i­tar Berba­tov on the Man­ches­ter United roster.

PES 2009, the lat­est in the award win­ning series, is avail­able on mul­ti­ple for­mats, includ­ing PC, PS3, XBOX 360, PS2, PSP and Nin­tendo Wii. The game should be in stores shortly as GamingEx­cel­lence reports that Kon­ami has shipped the game to North Amer­i­can retailers.
